Youth Addictions Prevention Worker

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver, and coordinate culturally relevant prevention services and programs for at-risk youth populations.
  • Identify and assess the need for addiction-prevention services among youth.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices among youth.
  • Liaise with community partners to develop and provide addiction-prevention.
  • Programming.
  • Research new addictions-prevention methods and approaches.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Keen observation skills and ability to deal effectively with challenging behaviour.
  • Proven experience in delivering prevention services or programs to at-risk youth populations.
  • Strong knowledge of addictions and how they can affect youth development.
  • A degree or certificate in education or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years working in a related field.
  • A valid drivers license.
